What are the most common endoscopy procedures?

Fiberoptic endoscopic examination is less traumatic than exploratory surgery, frequently reducing the risks and recovery time associated with surgical procedures.

Feedback from VetVu endoscope users indicates that gastroscopy and colonoscopy are among the most common procedures for endoscopy -- in both large and small animal practices. Removal of foreign objects from body cavities is a common use for endoscopes equipped with grasping and retrieval forceps. Commonly removed items are foxtails, holiday tinsel, coins and magnets.

Endoscopic photography is great tool in case documentation and visual history of internal growths.

What procedures are best suited to VetVu endoscopes?

VetVu makes equipment suitable for rhinoscopy, cystoscopy, bronchoscopy, gastroscopy, colonoscopy and duodenoscopy.

The state-of-the-art imaging transfer method is video technology. A lens system with a video chip is positioned in the distal (looking at the object to be examined) side of the endoscope and transfers an electrical signal to the video processor and monitor. An alternative technology for image transfer is via an ordered array of glass fibers from the distal side of the endoscope. This has advantages in applications such as electromagnetic and temperature neutral imaging devices.
